History of the Church

OUR STORY

Living Waters Independent Baptist Church is a small country church in Wise, VA. We have a long history of being in the area, and many changes took place over the years to make the church what it is today.

In 2003, Ricky Mullins Sr. started a church called Living Waters in Wise, VA. After things did not work out as God planned, in 2004, Ricky Sr. became the pastor at a little white church in Duncan Gap called House of Prayer. At this time, Ricky Sr. combined the two names and the church became Living Waters House of Prayer. This was the church where Ricky Mullins Jr. attended faithfully, announced his calling to preach, as well as marry his wife Brooke. It was their home church until 2013, when they left the area to pursue higher education.

In 2017, Ricky Sr. was burdened to build a new church. So the congregation left the little white church and built a brand new sanctuary. Today, the old church serves as the fellowship hall.

By God's grace, Ricky Jr. and Brooke were able to return home in 2021. After being mentored by a great pastor, Ricky Jr. saw the need for an independent church in the area and was burdened to help Living Waters House of Prayer see that need too. In 2022, the church voted to become an independent church and their name was changed to Living Waters Independent Baptist Church.

After 18 years of service and dedication, in 2022, Ricky Sr. decided it was time for him to step down and a new pastor to start. By God's amazing design, the church voted to name Ricky Jr. as their new pastor.
